Bio:
Chessy Prout is an American student who was the victim of sexual assault at the hands of Owen Labrie in 2014. She accused Owen of raping her in May 2014 after he allegedly took part in a game called “Senior Salute,” a school tradition where a graduating senior approach younger classmates for sexual favors. Owen’s case went to trial in Aug. 2015, and he was eventually acquitted of felony rape because the jury found the state could not prove that Chessy didn’t consent. However, Owen was convicted of three counts of misdemeanor assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and a felony count of using a computer to lure a minor. Owen was released from jail in May 2016 after serving only two months because a judge found he had “learned his lesson,” and on Aug. 30, 2016, Chessy spoke out about the ordeal for the first time.
