Cara McCollum (born Cara McCollum Feb. 6, 1992 in Forrest City, Arkansas) is a TV anchorwoman and former Miss New Jersey. Cara graduated Valedictorian of her high school class at Forrest City High School in Ark, and was accepted to both Harvard and Princeton Universities. She says she chose Princeton because she was a “Jersey Girl” at heart. It was when she attended Princeton that she decided to enter the world of beauty pagents, taking a year off from school in 2013 after she won the title of Miss New Jersey, visiting schools to encourage literacy programs. She competed in the 2014 Miss America contest, where the talented musician performed Liberace’s rendition of ‘Malaguena” on the piano. Cara graduated from Princeton with a degree in English and quickly got a job as lead anchor for Southern New Jersey’s SNJ TV’s 7pm & 11pm news. On Feb. 16 shortly after finishing her newscast, her car veered off the road in a terrible wreck, leaving her in critical condition with a traumatic brain injury.

Cara is in a relationship with Philadelphia’s NBC 10 news anchor Keith Jones. She was a member of Kappa Alpha sorority while at Princeton. She has said in interviews that she was known around campus for her girly clothes, insistence on wearing heels to class and the pink bicycle she rode.
