Boston University Offering ‘Harry Potter’ Sex Class For Students

Hop on your broomsticks, because Boston University is now offering a 'Harry Potter' sex class for muggles, er, students. The discussion based class will 'cast some sensual spells' by providing a 'foundation in sexual health', referencing scenarios from J.K. Rowling's 'Harry Potter.' The beloved Harry Potter series rarely touches on sex, and graduate students Michelle Goode and Jamie Klufts intend to open up that discussion! As part of a monthlong sexual health education program at Boston University called "Frisky February," Michelle and Jamie will unveil the magic of sex and other taboo topics referencing every book from J.K. Rowling's series.

‘Harry Potter’ Sex Class: Boston University Offers ‘Sex Ed At Hogwarts’

This might just be the coolest class ever, and we bet tons of discussion will spring from it!

The Harry Potter series sure touched on a ton of important themes and struggles from friendship to bravery to betrayal, but never did it touch on sex.

The course, called “Sex-Ed at Hogwarts”, will reference scenarios from the books and open up discussions about responsible drinking, contraception, STDs and intimacy, according to the Boston Globe. Here’s the official course description:

Ever wonder what it would be like if Hogwarts taught Sexual Education? With all of those adolescent wizards and witches running around we think it would be useful. At this event half-bloods, house-elves, and muggles alike will learn the proper way to get consent to enter one’s chamber of secrets and how to snog without getting hogwarts. We’ll be casting some sensual spells in CAS room 313. Hope you can aparate there!

Sign us up! The idea sprung when Michelle and Jamie realized that J.K. skips around the topic of sex in her books, which is obviously an important part of growing up.

“How can you have a school full of wizards and not talk about sex and sexuality?” Jamie said, while Michelle added, “We’re using the references as an opening and avenue to get the conversations started.”

So far more than 80 people have signed up for the course.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Would you sign up for the Harry Potter sex class? Sound off below!
