Happy 6th anniversary, ‘Teen Wolf!’ The hit MTV show premiered today, June 5, back in 2011. In honor of this special occasion, let’s take a look back and fondly remember some of the show’s best moments.
There are a ton of epic Teen Wolf moments that I’m not going to be able to get to in this post. As you all know, I have a “thing” for Stiles and Lydia, so get ready to see more than one of their incredible moments. I’m anxiously awaiting the final 10 episodes like the rest of you, so remembering the best moments of this awesome show has been incredibly therapeutic. You might want to grab your tissues, because many of my fave moments are the ones that made me cry all the tears.
*Stiles saves Scott in “Motel California.” At the end of the day, Stiles and Scott’s friendship is the heart and soul of Teen Wolf. Despite everything, these two have remained best friends. There’s no Scott without Stiles and no Stiles without Scott. The true depth of their friendship was shown in season 3 when a depressed Scott contemplates ending his life. Stiles’ speech to Scott is what brings his best friend back from the brink. “Scott, you’re my best friend,” Stiles says. “Okay? And I need you. Scott, you’re my brother. All right, so… so if you’re gonna do this, then… I think you’re just gonna have to take me with you.”
*Stiles tells Lydia to remember that he loves her. The first half of season 6 was all about the loss of Stiles after he’s erased by the Ghost Riders. Before he’s ripped from reality, he spends a few moments with Lydia in his jeep. Stiles tells Lydia that he loves her in what he thinks may be his last chance to say it. “Remember I love you,” Stiles whispers to Lydia. I didn’t know four words could emotionally destroy me as much as those out of Dylan O’Brien’s mouth.
*Allison saves Scott. At this point, I’m fairly used to TV deaths. But Allison Argent’s death in season 3 gutted me. While her dead was permanent, unlike so many TV deaths, Allison’s spirit has been kept alive over the past 6 seasons. In the season 5 finale, Scott fought the Beast, and it was Allison who came to his rescue before he could be killed. He saw Allison in the midst of the fight, and she allowed him to break free.
*Stiles and Malia finally hook up. I’m a total Stydia shipper, but I got tired of Stiles pining for her constantly. Scott deserved to find love, and he did find it with Malia. Both Stiles and Malia were not in a good place when they found each other. They were both so alone. They became each other’s person in a time when they thought they had no one. And let’s face it, that hookup scene in Eichen House was HAWT, even if was on a dangerously dirty couch.
*Malia and Peter connect. These two have never had the best relationship. After all, Peter’s never been much of a father to Malia. Ever. But Malia put her differences with her father aside to save his life in the season 6 winter finale. She was able to get through to him in the train station by calling him dad. As much as she’ll never admit it, she meant what she said to him. Later, Peter fought off a Ghost Rider to save his daughter. Let’s hope we get to see more of these two in the final 10 episodes.
*Stilinski remembers Stiles. Can we just give Linden Ashby an Emmy, please? In episode 7 of season 6, Stilinski finally tore down the wall to Stiles’ room. Lydia had already remembered who Stiles was and helped Stilinski find his way by throwing him Stiles’ jersey. In the next episode, he visited the pack and revealed that he finally remembered that he had a son. “I have a son, his name is Mieczyslaw Stilinski, but we call him Stiles,” he said, breaking hearts around the world.
*Void Stiles. Look, I know it was a dark time for Stiles, but Dylan made one hell of a villain. He was equally unhinged and in control. It was really cool to see a different side of Stiles, even though it wasn’t really Stiles.
*Derek and Stiles pool scene. You didn’t think I could write about Teen Wolf’s best moments and not write about Sterek, did you? Their bromance has been one of the many highlights of Teen Wolf. It’s a shame we haven’t seen any more of it in the past 3 seasons. As much as they get annoyed and sarcastic with one another, they love each other. That became clear in this scene in season 2.
Teen Wolf season 6B does not have a premiere date yet.
