Whoa. Season three of ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ just came in strong by possibly taking out one of it’s main characters in the second episode. Find out who — but warning: SPOILERS inside!
Travis Manawa is a goner. Or at least that’s what Fear The Walking Dead wants us to think. The patriarch of the Clark-Manawa clan went out hard in the second episode of season three, which aired immediately after the premiere on Sunday, June 4. Travis (Cliff Curtis) was shot in the neck while riding in the back of Jake’s (Sam Underwood) helicopter. Out of nowhere they were shot at, and multiple bullets went through the cabin of the helicopter. Unfortunately one hit Travis right in the neck, and although he didn’t bleed out immediately he was definitely in shock. He said the words “help me” multiple times and then opened the door to the helicopter, looking like he was going to jump. Despite Jake’s protests, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) got out of her seat to stop Travis and that’s when she saw that it wasn’t just his neck: he’s also been shot in the abdomen.
Alicia and Travis share a brief moment of eye contact before she lets go of his shirt, allowing him to fall backwards and out of the helicopter. She screams his name as he falls into oblivion but it’s too late — he’s gone. From the looks of it Travis falls directly onto some very sharp rocks, which adds to a number of reasons we should assume that he’s dead. However, as many Walking Dead fans know, death is not always what it appears to be on television. If Travis is dead, what’s truly devastating is that he and Madison (Kim Dickens) did not get to say goodbye. If you watched the season premiere then you know that they were separated at the very end when a horde of walkers invaded the base as they were getting to leave. Madison and Nick (Frank Dillane) were forced to go with Troy (Daniel Sharman) on the back of his truck, leaving Travis in Jake’s helicopter with Alicia and Luciana (Danay Garcia).
UPDATE: EP Dave Erickson confirmed that Travis is, in fact, dead on the June 4 episode of Talking Dead. Bummer!
