In honor of Pride Month, ‘Billboard’ magazine asked a number of your fave celebs to pen letters to their LGBTQ fans, and the results were truly heartwarming. From Selena Gomez to Britney Spears and so many more, you have to read what they wrote!
Grab the tissues and take a seat, because celebs like Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, Lea Michele and Naya Rivera have written beautiful letters to their LGBTQ fans that will definitely have you in tears. Billboard magazine just published a handful of letters for the LGBTQ community, all written by some of today’s top acts in music and more. A handwritten letter from the Queen of Las Vegas herself, Britney, reads: “You see, it’s actually you that lifts me up. The unwavering loyalty. The lack of judgment. The unapologetic truth. Acceptance! Your stories are what inspire me, bring me joy and make me and my sons strive to be better people.” Gah, how sweet is she?
The heartfelt letters do not end there. In Selena’s letter she credits her mom, Mandy Teefey, for raising her with an open and accepting mind. “I remember as a young child going to brunch on Sundays with my mom and her group of friends. I had no idea they were all gay as I didn’t even comprehend what that meant at the time,” Selena shared. “All I knew is that I loved being surrounded by these kind, fun and loving friends my mother had around her. I definitely give credit to her for raising me in an environment that was incredibly open-minded and non-judgmental.”
Naya Rivera, 30, took a trip down memory lane by paying tribute to her Glee character, Santana Lopez, who was openly gay. “To everyone whose heartfelt stories I have heard, or read I thank you for truly enriching my life,” Naya wrote, concluding her beautiful letter to fans. Her co-star, Lea Michele, also touched on her time on Glee and how it affected her. “One story that stands out and I will always remember was when a little girl with her two moms came up to me after seeing ‘Glee’ and told me that she was ‘as cool as Rachel Barry’ because Rachel had to dads and she had two mommies,” Lea shared. “That comment really hit home and I was so proud to be a part of such an important television show as well as so proud of the way we honored and represented the LGBTQ community.”
This is just a small batch of the wonderful, uplifting words written by celebs to their LGBTQ fans. Make sure you check out the rest on Billboard, including letters from Barbra Streisand, Leona Lewis, Kat Graham, Kelly Clarkson and so many more.
