If there’s one person who’s totally psyched for the 2017 NBA Finals, it’s ‘Champagne Papi’ himself – Drake! Drizzy got into the mood for the Cleveland Cavaliers-Golden State Warriors rematch by sharing an amazing pic from his ‘Degrassi’ days!
It wasn’t a Thursday when Drake, 30, shared his throwback, but in this case, we can let it slide. After all, the “One Dance” rapper just couldn’t hold back his enthusiasm for seeing the Golden State Warriors battle the Cleveland Cavaliers for the NBA championship. “That feeling when finals basketball is 24 hours away,” Drake captioned a May 31 Instagram photo, one that showed his Degrassi: The Next Generation character Jimmy Brooks holding a basketball. With Game 1 set for June 1, it’s clear that Drake – like every other NBA fan – is pumped to see LeBron James, take on Steph Curry, 29, for the third Finals in a row.
Hopefully, Drizzy got some courtside seats for this series, because if there’s anything that can make the Warriors Vs. Cavs Part 3 matchup any better, it’s Drake. The man is a NBA Superfan and he’s tight with both Steph and LeBron. In fact, Drake famously gave a shout out to both Steph and his wife, Ayesha Curry, 28, in his song, “0 to 100,” according to Genius. Drake rapped that he’s been “Steph Curry with the shot” and he’s “been cooking with the sauce, Chef Curry with the pot.”
Now, the “6 God” is a die-hard Toronto Raptors fan, and this loyalty has often put him at odds with LeBron. The Raptors usually face (and lose to) the Cavs in the NBA playoffs. During the Cavaliers’ run for the 2016 NBA championship, they struggled against the Raptors – which gave fans one of the best moments of the postseason. Drake hilariously trolled LeBron, using his renowned trash-talking skills to tease King James and the rest of the Cavs.
Granted, Drake would end up getting clowned, as the Cavs not only beat the Raptors in 2016, they completely swept the Toronto team in the 2017 playoffs. It was LeBron’s turn to troll Drake, per For The Win. After defeating the Raptors in Game 3 (while in Toronto) LeBron ran into Drake. King James, still riding the high of victory, reportedly asked Drake, “Where are we headed tonight? Margaritas on me?” While this seems like LeBron being a jerk, he may have been serious, as Drake brought King James on stage with him during an Ohio concert. Well, if the Cavaliers somehow beat the Warriors, expect Drake and LeBron to break out the Jimmy Buffet and have a weeklong trip to “Margaritavile.”
Are you psyched to see the NBA Finals, HollywoodLifers? Do you want to see Drake at the Finals? Who do you think will win the championship?
