Kathy Griffin was ousted from CNN after the graphic video of her ‘beheading’ the President was released! Chelsea Clinton, Melania Trump, and more expressed their outrage over the horrific images! Do you think CNN made the right call?
Kathy Griffin’s contract with CNN was terminated on Wednesday, May 31 after she posed in a controversial video. The clip showed Kathy holding up a fake version of President Donald Trump’s head covered in blood. The 56 year-old comedienne and former cohost of CNN’s New Year’s Eve show with Anderson Cooper immediately received backlash. The President, 70, Chelsea Clinton, and even First Lady Melania Trump, 47, condemned the graphic video. “As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing,” Melania said in a statement. “When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental healthy of the person who did it.”
Stars quickly took to Twitter to express their outrage over Kathy’s video. “This is vile and wrong,” Chelsea, 37, warned before she added, “It is never funny to joke about killing a president.” As a former First Daughter, she probably felt so much sympathy for the President’s son Barron, 11, who Trump said was “having a hard time with this.” Debra Messing, 48, also spoke out against the video. “It wasn’t right when people hung lynched Obama effigies, just as what Kathy Griffin did isn’t right now,” she posted. Jeffrey Wright, 51, admitted that what Kathy did was protected under the First Amendment, but said that didn’t erase the fact that it was in awful taste. “1st amendment, yeah, but file this under #DumbS—. Kathy Griffin, you’re trending. Congrats. And you’re benched,” he wrote.

Kathy’s close friend and her (now) former cohost on New Year’s Eve, Anderson, 49, was horrified by what happened. “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate,” he posted on Twitter. Kathy shared an apology video and asked everyone to forgive her. “I cross the line. I move the line, then I cross it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it. I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far. I made a mistake and I was wrong,” she said.
For those asking, I said on air that I thought the beheading imagery by Griffin about the president was disgusting and inappropriate.
