Ed Westwick is crushing your dreams about a ‘Gossip Girl’ reunion — for now. The hunky actor reveals in a brand-new interview why a revival is ‘not gonna happen.’ Is there any possibility to see Chuck and Blair on TV again? Here’s what Ed has to say!
We may be in the middle of a TV reunion renaissance, but don’t expect to see Gossip Girl return to TV any time soon. When asked by Radio Times about a GG comeback, star Ed Westwick, 29, said, “Nah, that’s not gonna happen… I know there’s a bunch of them coming back – I hear they’re doing Will and Grace, they’ve done Gilmore Girls… But it’s such a strange thing to think about. It feels like we only just finished! And I haven’t done enough in between yet to feel like I could comfortably revisit it. And I did so much with that character – it’s played out, man. It’s done.”
Okay, we’re going to need a minute to process this. This is our beloved Chuck talking. We do understand where Ed is coming from, though. The hit show, which also starred Blake Lively, 29, Leighton Meester, 31, Chace Crawford, 31, and Penn Badgley, 30, only went off the air in 2012. It’s only been 5 years, people! However, Ed isn’t completely ruling out a reunion. If Netflix offered up loads of cash for a revival, then Ed says he’d “do it then.” Well, at least there’s that!
HollywoodLife.com did talk EXCLUSIVELY with Ed back in 2014, and his feelings about a reunion have remained the same. He noted that the cast “enjoyed” the ride, but now “everyone’s off doing their own thing.”
Ed is ready for the next phase of his career and life after Chuck Bass. He will be returning to TV for an all-new series, White Gold, on BBC2. While he’ll always be Chuck, we’re excited to see what Ed has in store next!
