‘Bachelorette’: Chris Harrison Defines ‘Whaboom’ & Reveals Villain You Won’t See Coming

We showed you the suitors who will compete for Rachel Lindsay’s heart on this season of ‘The Bachelorette,’ but what the heck is a ‘whaboom,’ the career Lucas has listed? We found out that, and much more, from the one and only Chris Harrison.

The list of contestants always give us so many questions about The Bachelorette, but luckily expert Chris Harrison was there with all the answers. HollywoodLife.com sat down with the host EXCLUSIVELY ahead of the premiere, and had to know what Lucas, the 30-year-old whose occupation is listed as “Whaboom,” was all about. What in the world is a whaboom? “That’s a good question… it’s a lot of things,” Chris told us. “It can be a noun, a verb, an adjective. It’s a lifestyle… but you can also whaboom. You’ll see it and hear it. It’s Lucas’ essence; it’s who he is.”

So that didn’t really answer that question — but Chris did reveal that he felt audiences would react strongly to Lucas. “He’s gonna be the guy people are gonna love or hate, or love to hate. We’ll see how that shakes out,” he said, adding that there is also is one man who may surprise people… in a bad way. “Lee is kind of a smooth, southern gentleman. Maybe won’t see this coming but he’s definitely someone who rubs people the wrong way. It’s not what he says sometimes, it’s how he says it. Like, I know that’s a put down! I can tell you’re being rude to me.”

This time around though, the group of men as a whole are much different than they have been in the past — and no, not just because of the diversity.  “Overall, I felt like it was a really good group. For me the diversity went into — she’s a little older, she’s professional, she’s set in her life and knows what she wants,” Chris said. For season 13, the show had to find men who were ready to settle down and were serious about their futures.”I can’t have a 21-year-old beer chugging frat boy come in; that’s not Rachel. The guys have to step it up if they want to be with her,” Chris said.

The Bachelorette premieres with a two-hour episode on Monday, May 22 at 9PM; it will then return to its 8PM slot the following week. HollywoodLifers, which guys do you like?
