Back into the bushes for Sean Spicer! The White House press secretary allegedly will not give daily, on camera press briefings, on the reported request of President Donald Trump. It’s definitely a troubling sign for Spicer, who hasn’t been on his A-game lately. Is he getting fired soon?
Sean Spicer’s White House press briefings are allegedly being scaled down significantly, according to a new report. President Donald Trump, 70, is allegedly trying to rebrand his communications department after several scandals in the briefings, and that includes giving Spicey some time away from the cameras. The alleged shakeup is expected to happen after Trump’s first foreign trip, to Saudi Arabia, according to officials who spoke to Politico. Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will allegedly take over press briefings more often. Spicer is expected to keep a senior role in the administration, but it’s not clear at this point where that will allegedly be.
It’s not a surprise that Sanders would be taking on a larger role in the communications department. Sanders took over the podium last week while Spicer was fulfilling his Navy Reserves duties. She gave two of the most important briefings of the months-old Trump administration, addressing reporters when FBI Director James Comey was fired on May 9. But Spicer has been Trump’s biggest champion in the White House. He’s publicly defended him during his near-weekly scandals and angrily combatting reporters who dare question the failings of the Trump administration. But apparently, according to Politico‘s sources, Trump isn’t too keen on seeing Spicer duke it out daily on camera anymore. He allegedly believes that the communications department, led by Spicer, isn’t doing a good enough job explaining away his controversies. Is this all leading to Spicer getting the axe?
You may recall Spicer telling reporters in an April briefing that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was worse than Hitler because Hitler didn’t use chemical weapons on his own people. Ummm. He also called concentration camps “Holocaust centers” when further explaining his comments to visibly confused journalists. He apologized for his gaffe shortly afterward. While out of office during his military leave, he was also spotted hiding in — sorry, around — bushes near the White House to avoid talking to reporters. Normal!
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked that Sean Spicer allegedly isn’t doing daily White House press briefings anymore? Let us know!
