Olivia Pope still shocks everyone — including Kerry Washington! Ahead of the two-hour finale of ‘Scandal,’ the actress stopped by ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ and revealed that the final scene left her absolutely in awe.
“I can’t believe that six seasons in, when we shot the very last scene of the finale, I had chills. I couldn’t believe the situation my character was in. I feel so blessed and so lucky to be challenged in this way,” Kerry Washington, 40, told Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night’s episode of The Tonight Show. “I could never ever imagine that Olivia Pope could be in the situation that she’s in.”
Of course she didn’t say much more, but if she’s surprised, there’s a good chance we’ll be shocked, too. For the first time ever, the Scandal finale will be two hours, something that she said the fans demanded. Kerry recently also visited Good Morning America to talk about the finale, and about next season, which ABC announced will be their last. “Sometimes as an actor you don’t know when you’re going to be out of a job and so it’s nice actually to go into the last season knowing that it’s our last season. We’re already talking about how it’s going to be like no-holds-barred, better than ever, no holding punches, putting it all out on the table,” she said.
Creator Shonda Rhimes has always put everything out the table, so we can only expect that when it comes tot he finale, she’ll make it incredible for the gladiators. “Deciding how to end a show is easy. Deciding when to finish is quite simple when the end date is years away. But actually going through with it? Actually standing up to say: ‘This is it?’ Not so much,” Shonda said in a statement about the show’s ending. “So, next year we are going all out. Leaving nothing on the table. Creating this world in celebration. We are going to handle the end the way we like to handle the important things in our Scandal family: all together, white hats on, Gladiators running full speed over a cliff.”
HollywoodLifers, what do you want to see on the finale of Scandal? It airs from 9-11ET tonight on ABC.
