No way. Is it really going to happen? Are Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather finally going to fight? It seems this battle of the century might actually become a reality, as the UFC champ said he’s signed the paperwork to meet Floyd in the middle of the ring!
It seems that the fight between Conor McGregor, 29, and Floyd Mayweather, 40, might actually become a reality. At least, it’s one step closer to actually happening. All we need now is to have Floyd sign on the dotted line, as Conor announced on May 17 that he and UFC have worked out their portion of the fight contract. “It is an honour to sign this record breaking deal alongside my partners Zuffa LLC, The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Paradigm Sports Management,” the “Notorious” fighter said in a statement to TheMacLife.com.
“The first, and most important part of this historic contract has now officially been signed off on. Congratulations to all parties involved. We now await Al Haymon and his boxer’s signature in the coming days,” Conor said, basically pointing out that the ball is now in Floyd’s court. Floyd, who retired from professional boxing in 2015 with a 49-0 record, has said that he wouldn’t step back into the ring for anything less than a $100 million payday. If this deal has given Floyd such a massive paycheck, then there shouldn’t be any issue.
Fight fans shouldn’t hold their breath just yet. While “the McGregor side is done,” UFC president Dana White, 47, he’s now focusing on “the Mayweather side now.” While appearing during the May 17 edition of NBA on TNT, Dana said, “I’m not saying that the fight will happen. I [just] got one side done. Now, it’s time to work on the other. If we can come to a deal with Haymon and Mayweather, the fight’s going to happen.”

Dana also confirmed that the fight between these two would be “straight boxing.” Conor’s coach, John Kavanagh, said that the Irish UFC star has been focusing solely on developing his boxing skills, according to the Washington Post. So, it seems Conor is ready to throw some hands to back up the months and months of trash talk. Of course, Mayweather hasn’t been innocent either. Whenever Conor says he’ll knock Floyd’s head clean off his body, Mayweather whips out his wallet and says that Conor needs to be “worth more” to earn his attention. Well, it seems that these two might finally just shut up and fight.
Do you think Floyd will sign the contract and these two will fight, HollywoodLifers?
