The number of artists left on season 12 of ‘The Voice’ is cut in half after the May 16 episode! Find out which four are staying and which four are going based on America’s votes in our recap right here!
To kick the show off, Carson Daly reveals the first artist who is safe and moving onto the Finals on season 12 of The Voice — and it’s Chris Blue from Alicia Keys’ team! Both of Chris’ performances landed in the top 10 on iTunes after the May 15 episode, so this one is certainly no surprise. Next, to take a break from the results for a moment, the show continues with a guest performance from Big Boi, who’s joined by coach Adam Levine for a rendition of their new song “Mic Jack.” Umm…can we talk about how epic the rapper’s black fur coat is? Love it!
The next contestant to be announced as a season 12 finalist is Blake Shelton’s team member Lauren Duski, who had the number one spot on iTunes at the close of voting. This girl is a STAR! The third contestant to automatically land a spot in the Top 4 is another Team Blake singer, Aliyah Moulden, who was also in the iTunes Top 10. Now, the two artists who got the least amount of votes will immediately be eliminated, and the remaining three will get to sing one more time for America’s Instant Save. Before the big reveal, though, DNCE takes the stage to give an energetic performance of their new hit “Kissing Strangers.”
The fun doesn’t last long, though, and it’s quickly time to get back to the results. Carson reveals that Jesse Larson (Team Adam), Hunter Plake (Team Gwen Stefani) and Brennley Brown (also Team Gwen) will be singing for the Instant Save, which means TSoul (Team Blake) and Vanessa Ferguson (Team Alicia) are headed home.
For her performance, Brennley goes back to the ballads we know and love her for with a rendition of Demi Lovato’s “Warrior.” She’s followed by Hunter, who stuns with his performance of “Love Runs Out” by One Republic. Finally, Jesse takes the stage and performs “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton, which is right in his wheelhouse. Only one can move on, though, and after America votes on Twitter, the artist moving on is….Jesse. Congratulations!
Lauren, Chris, Jesse and Aliyah will perform live once again on the May 22 episode, and a winner will be named on May 23. Make sure you’re voting for your favorite!
HollywoodLifers, do you think the right people made the Finals? Who do you think will win?
