Lorde served up serious Rihanna vibes in her latest shoot, where she suited up in an outfit nearly identical to RiRi’s famous Coachella look — but who wore it better? VOTE.
Lorde, 20, looks amazing on ELLE magazine’s June 2017 cover, where the songstress showed off an edgy look, all while serving up her best BadGalRiRi get-up! The star sported a pair of denim short-shorts over fishnet tights, with a Gucci tank tucked in — and it was the very same top we first spotted on Rihanna at Coachella, when she stepped out in an epic, crystal-encrusted bodysuit. She wore the Gucci tank and a pair of denim shorts over her sparkling bodysuit, and we couldn’t get enough of the epic look — and we’re enjoying seeing the outfit reimagined in a more wearable way on Lorde.
Inside the mag, the talented songstress opened up about how she feels about the music scene in LA and her personal creative process when she said: “Everyone’s making music in L.A. now—which is great if you aren’t the shyest, most introverted nerd. I found it a little too social. I made my first record in New Zealand with very little discourse—I was just my own unit. In L.A., it’s very, ‘Oh, what project are you working on?’ I was like, ‘I need to be out of this.’”
She may have quite a few celebrity friends, (like Taylor Swift!), but Lorde says she turns to her roots to stay grounded. So, how does she balance her fame and normal life? “New Zealand. That’s why I am so passionate about going home. Most of my friends are people I knew before I was famous. I’m very thankful that I never feel like the smartest person in the room, or the coolest person in the room, or the funniest. When I’m there, I’m just there. People forget that I’ve done anything. They say, ‘Ella’s this weird old dowager with a nice house,’” she said.
Rihanna is always a major source of fashion inspiration for us, so we aren’t surprised to see the mag recreate the look on Lorde. We love seeing it on another strong, stylish woman!
