Watch out, the mutants are coming! In the first trailer for ‘The Gifted’, two teenagers discover they have larger than life powers (just like the X-Men) — and once they learn how to use them, things get pretty crazy.
The Gifted is a new show coming to FOX in fall 2017 that is set in the X-Men universe. The show, created by Marvel, centers around a brother and sister, Lauren and Andy Strucker, who realize they can do things that other people can’t. The problem? Mutants aren’t exactly accepted socially, and there’s also that part about their dad, Reed Strucker, working to contain them from the public. As you can see in the first trailer, Lauren and Andy use their powers for fun until things get completely out of hand and suddenly the not-so-good guys are knocking on their door to take them away. Yikes!
Here’s the official synopsis for The Gifted: “Family adventure series THE GIFTED, from 20th Century Fox Television in association with Marvel Television, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.”
For those of you X-Men fans a little concerned about bringing the mutant world to the small screen, have no fear. Bryan Singer is directing the show just like he has the film franchise. Stephen Moyer returns to the small screen as the dad, Reed, while Lauren is portrayed by newcomer Natalie Alyn Lind. As for Lauren’s little brother, Andy, he’ll be played by Percy Hynes White.
