Katy Perry, 32, could be sitting in at the judges table of the American Idol reboot! Rumors have been swirling she entered into negotiations, according to TMZ. “The rumors are true, Katy is being considered highly for a stint on American Idol,” a source dished EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife. She reportedly talked with someone who knew the show better than anyone: Ryan Seacrest, 42! “She got very excited about doing it after talking to Ryan Seacrest backstage during Wango Tango,” the insider told us.
“She wanted to pick his brain and find out the pros and cons of doing the show and he convinced her that it would be a good idea,” the source said. Katy was super smart to talk to Ryan since he could tell her what it’s really like. She has reportedly thought it over and is almost ready to say, “yes!” “Now the money has to match and she most likely will sign on the dotted line,” the insider told us.
Former judge Paula Abdul couldn’t even contain her excitement about the reboot. “American Idol was and still is one of the most life changing experiences for me,” she told E!. “I’m so beyond proud to have been there since the inception of it. I’m excited for Idol. I’m forever a fan. I’m just finding out the same way as everyone else and it’s very exciting,” she said. Could she come back as a judge too? Everyone has been buzzing about who could fill the seats. Carrie Underwood has been reportedly been approached by both Idol and The Voice! “The Voice is not taking the return of American Idol lightly and wants to lock down some big names to be exclusive to their show — one name that The Voice wants as a future coach is Carrie Underwood. The problem is that American Idol wants her as well. So she is in the driver’s seat and can really choose her destiny when it comes to doing one of the shows or not. Let the bidding war begin,” a source previously told HollywoodLife.
