Put down and hot dogs and hamburgers! BBQs are filled with high-calorie traps, but you can still eat healthy if you make the right choices at your memorial Day BBQ.
Kimberly Gomer, MS, RD, LDN, and the Director of Nutrition at Pritikin Longevity Center + Spa tells HollywoodLife.com:
BEST FOODS TO EAT AT A BBQ
1. Salad and Veggies
2. Corn On The Cob
3. Baked Potato
4. Grilled salmon or chicken breast
WORST FOODS TO EAT AT A BBQ
2. Red meat

WHAT ALCOHOL TO DRINK AT A BBQ
As far as choosing the “best” alcohol, there isn’t that much difference between a serving of beer, wine, and hard liquor. It’s more important that you watch the QUANTITY.
For optimal health, Kimberly says: “Women can have 4 drinks a week but 1 at a time, and men can have 7 drinks a week but only 1-2 at a time. There are anti-oxidants in alcohol that have a positive effect on heart health, but that benefit is overshadowed by risk when the drinks are flowing.”
