America was super impressed with Jesse Larson on the April 18 episode of ‘The Voice,’ and he was voted through to the Top 12 by viewers. Get to know Adam Levine’s talented contestant right here!
1. He’s had the chance to sing for Prince
Before The Voice, Jesse Larson received an unexpected call with the chance to audition for Prince. He auditioned several times with the iconic singer before he was eventually awarded the opportunity to play guitar for Judith Hill, who’s also competed on The Voice. Prince was producing her at the time. Unfortunately, due to Prince’s untimely death, Judith’s tour was cancelled.
2. He’s in a band
Jesse plays in the Minneapolis band MPLS. The eight member group has been successful throughout Minnesota, particularly with their Michael Jackson tribute.
3. He’s self-taught
Even more than singing, Jesse is passionate about guitar, which he learned at a young age thanks to the influence of his father. Along with his dad, Jesse built guitars from scratch growing up, and has consistently shown off his skill on the instrument during his time on The Voice.
4. He almost quit music once
Obviously, Jesse is incredibly close with his father, who died very suddenly of a heart attack. The loss completely devastated him, and he almost quit music because of it. However, the audition for Prince came at the perfect time to reignite his love for the craft.
5. He’s totally one of Adam Levine’s favorites
Can you believe Adam was the ONLY coach to turn around for Jesse on the show?! The two have had a clear bond since the very beginning, with Adam choosing Jesse over his opponents in both the Battle and Knockout Rounds. In the Live Playoffs, Jesse proved he has America’s love, too, when the viewers voted him through to the Top 12.
