America voted Lauren Duski into the Top 12 on season 12 of ‘The Voice’ during the April 17 episode, and now, she’s most certainly a frontrunner on Blake Shelton’s team. Get to know Lauren better right here!
1. She’s a college graduate
Lauren Duski attended the University of Michigan. She graduated in 2013 with a Bachelors of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience, with plans to attend dental school. However, she put those dreams aside to pursue a career in music, moving to Chicago, then Nashville, after graduation.
2. She used to be in a band
As a member of the classic country band, the JR Country Band, Lauren traveled throughout her home state of Michigan playing shows throughout her teenage years. The group had the opportunity to open for country acts like Randy Travis and Lonestar.
3. She’s a caretaker
Lauren was encouraged to move to Nashville by independent filmmaking couple Ann Gillis and her husband, Marvin. However, when Ann was diagnosed with ALS, Lauren became her full-time caretaker.
4. She has a very important connection in Nashville
During the April 17 episode of The Voice, Lauren revealed to her coach, Blake Shelton, 40, that she’d recently become friendly with Danielle Bradbery — who won season 4 of The Voice on Blake’s team! Danielle gave her great advice for continuing on with the show, and it definitely worked: Lauren received the most votes on Blake’s team during the Live Playoffs to move onto the Top 12.
5. She’s been one of Blake’s favorites all season long
Since Lauren is a country singer, it makes sense that she has a special connection to Blake. He’s been devoted to her as one of his team members all season long, choosing her over fellow country stars, Brennley Brown in the Battle Round, and Andrea Thomas in the Knockout Round. This one has potential to go all the way!
