Khloe Kardashian’s workout routine is serious #fitspo and we are willing to follow any and all advice she has! She what she does RIGHT after leaving the gym below!
Khloe Kardashian, 32, spilled her post-gym secrets on her app and website on April 18.
“How you recover from your workout is just as important as the workout itself,” she wrote. “Your body needs to adapt to the physical stress of exercise by repairing muscle and replenishing energy stores in order to maximize all the amazing benefits of a tough sweat sesh. You’ve already put in the hard work, so make sure you’re reaping #yourbestbody rewards by using these simple recovery techniques!”
1. TAKE A BATH
“Intense exercise depletes the body of magnesium, leading to muscle cramps, joint pain and inflammation, all of which can cause you to call it quits when the pain gets too real. Replenish your magnesium supply by pouring two cups of Epsom salts (naturally composed of magnesium sulphate) into a warm bath and soak for 15 to 30 minutes. I store my salts in decorative jars and display them for a pretty bathroom accent.”
I like Dr Teal’s salts — it’s super affordable and they smell amazing.
2. ROLL OUT
“Give your muscles some post-workout deep-tissue love using a foam roller, massage therapy ball or a muscle roller stick. “Rolling” puts targeted pressure on your muscles and connective tissue, releasing trigger points where you feel tight and sore. This helps release the toxic build up of lactic acid that accumulates in your muscles after an intense workout, helping to prevent injury, increase flexibility and speed up the recovery process. Hurts SO good!”
3. EAT SOMETHING
“The first 45 minutes after exercise is your “anabolic window,” which is the period of time that food is converted to build lean muscle. I always make sure I have a meal within that time frame, and smoothies are usually my go-to. Try combining these three key ingredients for a simple smoothie that refuels your body and repairs your muscles. Bananas are an excellent source of carbs and potassium, both of which are depleted post-workout; Protein World’s Whey Protein replenishes amino acids that are known to be fast-acting and easily digested; almond butter provides unsaturated fat for an energy pick-me-up and salt to restore electrolytes. A pack of almond butter on it’s own is better than nothing, so I ALWAYS keep them handy!”
She likes Justin’s Almond Butter packets. Read her smoothie recipe here!
