April The Giraffe’s baby calf is finally here, and HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVE details about their first few days together straight from the owner of Animal Adventure Park. It’s TOO cute, you guys!
Nearly two months after thousands started tuning into April The Giraffe’s live stream, the gorgeous animal at Animal Adventure Park in New York finally gave birth on April 15. “April and Baby are doing just great,” park owner, Jordan Patch, tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “For now, we’re referring to the little one as ‘Baby’ until we decide on a name. April seems to be in love with her little guy and enjoys kissing him on the head throughout the day. These interactions are priceless.” Awwww!
The zoo is leaving the newborn’s name in the hands of the fans — if you want to make a suggestion yourself, just head over to NameAprilsCalf.com. You have to donate to add your desired name into the mix, but it’s for a good cause: “Donations will go to our facility and to giraffe conservation and a foundation we started for our daughter, who has a rare form of epilepsy.”
Unfortunately, those who have enjoyed watching April over the last two months will only have a few more days to do so, as Animal Adventure Park is taking the Giraffe Cam down on Friday, April 21. “We simply have to get back to work,” Jordan explains. “We’re opening in May and we have lots to do. We will let fans know on Facebook when we will have the cam back on April and family. We will schedule live times for people to watch.”
April has already proven to be a dedicated and protective mother — she even kicked a vet who came in her pen to check on Baby after the birth! Luckily, no one was hurt, and April and her little one have been living peacefully since.
HollywoodLifers, are you sad to see the live stream of April ending? Did you guess the baby’s birth date right?
