Move over, Lady Gaga, Drake and Future. The real hit of Coachella was Hans Zimmer! The legendary film score composer hit the stage on April 16 to amaze festivalgoers with songs from ‘Inception,’ ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ – and then he brought out Pharrell Williams!
How amazing is it to think that 59-year-old Hans Zimmer was one of the best highlights from the Coachella weekend? Yet, in a weekend festival that boasted Lady Gaga, 31, Kendrick Lamar, 29, New Order, Radiohead, Lorde, 20, and other music superstars, it was the iconic music composer that got one of the biggest reactions from fans.
Hans, joined by an orchestra of dozens of virtuosos, busted out his “greatest hits,” performing tracks from Inception, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Gladiator and a pair of tracks from The Dark Knight Trilogy, according to Consequence of Sound. He topped it off when he had Pharrell Williams, 44, come out for an unbelievable rendition of Pharrell’s hit “Freedom.” Slay, Hans! Slay!
He played a set of 18 tracks, which is pretty incredible considering he was at a festival. Yet, that marathon of epic music was half of what Hans and his group played when he kicked off his first-ever North American tour at The Microsoft Theater on April 15. Fans who want to get the full Hans Zimmer experience will have to catch him during one of his upcoming tour dates.

Despite not playing songs from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 or the Interstellar suite, fans were still stunned by what they saw and heard. Some said that the decision to have Hans play at Coachella was the “best decision” ever! Others said they were openly weeping at the beautiful sounds that were filling their ears. Most were just blown away. Wow.
Hans Zimmer definitely had the best live show so far at Coachella.

I wasn't too jealous of the Coachella crowd until Hans Zimmer rolled up to it

Perhaps Coachella should have booked Hans to replace Beyonce, 36, instead of Lady Gaga? Just kidding. When Queen Bey had to bow out due to being pregnant with twins, Gaga stepped up – and completely wowed the Coachella crowds. Not only did she bust out an amazing set full of her greatest hits, she even performed a brand new song! Hmm. Perhaps during the next Coachella weekend, Gaga and Hans could team up? That would totally be epic.
What did you think about Hans Zimmer’s performance at Coachella, HollywoodLifers? Did it give you life?
