Brace yourself, Glenn fans — we could be seeing that gorgeous face again. Scott Gimple revealed in a new interview that just like we saw Abraham after his death, we could also be seeing Maggie’s husband, too… especially when it comes time for her to give birth.
The Walking Dead has killed off some of our favorite characters of all time, including Glenn Rhee. However, that hasn’t always been the real end, and when a character is really loved, sometimes they come back. No, not like Sasha’s return as a walker. We’re talking really return.
That’s “certainly possible,” showrunner Scott Gimple told our sister publication TVLine about a cameo from Steven Yeun, especially around the time that Maggie would give birth; he could show up in flashbacks or maybe a dream. “I’d be silly to say it isn’t [possible],” he said, but added that she’s not that close to giving birth just yet. “Things have been moving pretty quickly, but not a lot of time has passed,” he said.
Of course Glenn was brutally killed in the season seven premiere by Negan, leaving a pregnant Maggie. But this does give us hope for next season, which Scott also said will be very different than season seven.
“There are twists and turns to it, definitely some small-scale things and some large-scale things and a whole different momentum to the story,” he told TVLine. “Now that [the various factions] are in public conflict and everything is on the table as far as everybody knows who everybody is to each other and what’s going on, the narrative changes a lot. It’s going to become a bit more kinetic and fast-moving, because that’s where the story is going. The content is definitely going to be determining the form.”
