After nearly dying from alcohol poisoning in 2002 and going to rehab multiple times over the last several years, Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer, 48, is seeking help for alcohol addiction yet again, TMZ claims. The “Mini Me” actor was rushed to San Fernando Valley hospital nearly two weeks ago, and he’s been holed up in a room there ever since. He’s reportedly been receiving treatment for alcohol addiction for a week now, and will soon enter a rehab for more help. He told TMZ he should be in a facility by the end of the week.
Fortunately, Verne is optimistic about his future. TMZ claims he gave a shoutout to his fans, saying, “With your help, I got this.”
As HollywoodLife.com previously told you, Verne has had his fair share of health scares over the years. Just two years ago, he was hospitalized after having a seizure at a fan convention. And in 2002, the actor nearly died of alcohol poisoning after being heartbroken, following a breakup with Genevieve Gallen, his wife for two months.
Verne is best known for playing “Mini Me” in the second two Austin Powers films. The actor, who stands at 2 ft. 8 in., has an extensive film and television career including starring in Mike Myers‘ 2008 comedy The Love Guru and appearing on the 2005 Vh1 reality show The Surreal Life. He also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2009, alongside stars including rapper Coolio, LaToya Jackson, glamour model Lucy Pinder and Ulrika Jonsson.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Verne Troyer during this difficult time in his life. We hope he finds the help he’s seeking.
