A woman has accused Morocco Omari of brutally beating her, and after observing her alleged injuries, cops arrested him at the scene on April 5, according to a shocking new report.
Morocco Omari, 41, who plays Lucious’ half-brother, Tariq, on Empire, was arrested in Chicago on April 5, according to TMZ. A 24-year-old woman called the cops on the actor, claiming he physically abused her, resulting in scratches covering her neck and chest. The woman, who’s identity has not been revealed, alleges that Morocco pushed her to the ground several times before cops arrived on the scene at 2:30 p.m., the site reports.
TMZ’s law enforcement sources say that officials arrested and booked Morocco for misdemeanor domestic battery after seeing the woman’s alleged bruises and injuries. The connection between Omari and the woman is not apparent based on this initial report — he is not currently married, as he divorced actress JoNell Kennedy in 2006. HollywoodLife.com has reached out to Morocco’s rep for comment.
Morocco first appeared on Empire at the end of season 2, starring in three episodes before being promoted to a series regular for the third season in August 2016. Tariq plays Lucious (Terrence Howard)’s half-brother on the show, but also has a past with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). Empire airs on Wednesdays at 10:00 p.m. on FOX. The network has yet to comment on these allegations.
HollywoodLifers, are you surprised about the allegations against Morocco? Do you think his future on Empire will be affected by this arrest?
