Barry Manilow has opened up about being gay and married to his manager, Garry Kief, for the very first time. In response, tons of big name celebs like Anna Kendrick and more are showing their support for the iconic singer on Twitter.
Barry Manilow, 73, is a proud gay man. In a lengthy interview with PEOPLE released on Wednesday, April 5, the singer openly discussed his sexuality and his marriage to longtime manager Garry Kief, for what he says is the first and likely last time. Barry and Garry have been together for 39 years and were married in 2014, which wasn’t much of a secret at the time. However, Barry has admitted that he always feared coming out because of how “disappointing” it would be for his dedicated fans, especially the women that swooned over him for so long. Thankfully, he was wrong.
Anna Kendrick, 31, quickly took to Twitter to throw shade at those claiming they always knew that Barry was gay — even before he bravely decided to open himself up to the world. She was followed by comedian Patton Oswalt, 48, who joked that it was actually disgraced politician Steven Bannon, 63, who had come out. See their tweets below:
Lot of people seem really proud of themselves for announcing they "already knew" Barry Manilow was gay. Yeah……ur the true heroes today guys.

A little good news for once: Barry Manilow no longer has NSC clearance and Steve Bannon's come out as gay. I applaud them both.

And of course celebrities weren’t the only ones talking about Barry’s big interview. Many of his fans also took to Twitter to show their support and love for the singer, proving he had no reason to be worried about they would be disappointed by his sexuality. Here are just a handful of the loving tweets Barry’s fans wrote:
Props to Barry Manilow for coming out! ❤️🌈 He said he thought fans would be disappointed if they knew he was gay. That breaks my heart!
