Wow. If Steph Curry gets tired of being a basketball superstar, he could always work at Disneyland. The NBA champ showed he knew his Disney songs during an adorable version of ‘Carpool Karaoke.’ He even busted out his trademark mouth guard for some added swag!
If fans were expecting Steph Curry, 29, to spit fire on some hip-hop or pull out some smooth R&B for a sports-themed version of “Carpool Karaoke,” the Golden State Warriors had some bad news. “I listen to everything a four-and-a-half-year-old listens to,” Steph said to James Corden, 38, during the April 3 episode of The Late Late Show.
It seems that his sweet daughter, Riley Curry, is really in charge of the radio. “Lot of Disney. Lot of Moana.” From there, James and Steph broke into “No One Knows” from the hit movie. Steph really got into it, and James helped put some “Curry” flavor into this version by handing Steph a mouth guard. Steph then sang with it hanging out of his mouth, just like how he looks after sinking a 3-point shot. Yes, it did make it hard to understand what Steph was saying but it looked pretty cool.
From there, James and Steph sang, “Love Is An Open Door” from Frozen. First off, good on Steph and James for not doing “Let It Go.” Second, it was pretty amazing how they played off each other. Huh. Someone better cast Steph in the next Disney movie. If The Rock, 44, can voice a character, there’s no reason why Steph can’t. Maybe he can be in Moana 2?
Riley – and her little sister, Ryan Curry, 1 – would love to see their daddy as a Disney character. And the NBA would love to see Riley crash more of her father’s post-game press conferences. Riley broke onto the scene by stealing the spotlight from Steph in 2015. Since then, she’s been noticeably absent, probably because her mother, Ayesha Curry, 28, wants her baby girl to have a normal life.
“We play with her and keep her out of the spotlight as much as we can,” she told New York magazine in Oct. 2016. “We say no to a lot of requests.” That’s pretty smart and the right thing to do. Though, after seeing Steph sing, maybe he can come back with Riley for a special father-daughter version of “Carpool Karaoke?”
What did you think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Steph has a good singing voice?
