You guys, Lena Dunham is spilling major spoilers about the final episodes of ‘Girls.’ The actress revealed exactly what’s NOT going to happen when the show’s series finale airs on April 16.
If you were holding out hope that Adam (Adam Driver) and Hannah (Lena Dunham) were going to somehow get back together by the time the show ended, you might need to take a minute to digest this information. It’s not going to happen. Adam and Hannah are really, truly over. Lena, 30, has confirmed it.
“That whole episode [the April 2 episode] was really emotional to shoot because Adam’s been such an amazing, like, acting partner and teacher to me. I knew it was the last time we were going to do any performing together,” she says in an after the episode special.
The on-again, off-again pair briefly reunited during April 2 episode, but he ultimately went back to Jessa (Jemima Kirke). As executive producer Judd Apatow, 49, says, the pair realized “they’re just not interested in each other anymore.”
Lena adds, “It was a big choice to go, like, ‘No, these people actually aren’t meant to be together and this complicated relationship [Adam] has with Jessa is where he’s supposed to be.'”
Many fans have been rooting for Hannah and Adam since the very beginning of the series, which premiered in 2012. While Hannah and Adam may not be endgame, their final episode together at least offered closure.
The last two episodes will feature the girls of Girls getting back together, even if they might not be in the mood for it. Hannah, Jessa, Marnie (Allison Williams), and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) are forced to confront their issues in the April 9 episode. The series finale, airing the following week, will feature Hannah embarking on a new journey. Will Hannah give birth?! Girls airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
