Hillary Clinton wasn’t able to defeat Donald Trump during the 2016 election, so, will her daughter, Chelsea, take a whack at it in 2020? The 37-year-old dished on her future in politics and more during a tell-all interview on April 4!
Chelsea Clinton, 37, is constantly asked whether or not she’ll follow in her mother’s footsteps and run for office, and once again, she reiterated what she’s been adamant about each time: The answer is NO! Well, at least for now.
“I clearly don’t agree with our president [Donald Trump], but I’m definitely not the right person to run to defeat him in 2020,” Chelsea said on CBS This Morning. “Right now, the answer is now. But I think we all need to be asking ourselves that question periodically.”
So what about her mom, Hillary Clinton, 69, who lost the presidential race to Trump last November? “Right now she’s focused on her book,” Chelsea admitted. “She’s focused, thankfully, on her grandchildren. She’s focused on what she can do to support work she’s been engaged in for longer than I’ve been alive: Around children, around women, around families. And I’m just really grateful to have more time with her now than I’ve had in a long time.”
So, there you have it: Chelsea isn’t ruling out the thought of running for public office some day, but for now, it’s off the table. She actually just addressed this in an exclusive interview with our sister site, Variety, on March 29, explaining, “I really am constantly surprised by the stories of me running for, fill in the blank — Congress, Senate, City Council, the presidency. I really find this all rather hysterical, as I’ve been asked this question a lot throughout my life, and the answer has never changed.” And that’s that!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Chelsea should run for office? Do you think she’d make a good president some day?
