Jason Aldean’s simple and soulful performance of ‘Any Ol’ Barstool’ at the 2017 ACMs on April 2 proved that country music is at its best when it goes back to the basics: just a guy and his guitar! Maybe it’s any ol’ barstool, but this sure wasn’t any ol’ show!
Now THAT’s why he’s nominated for Entertainer of the Year! Jason Aldean lit up the stage at the 2017 ACMs with that explosive performance of ‘Any Ol’ Barstool’ and proved just why the academy thinks he has the chops to be considered for both Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year. Did you hear those pipes? His performance was simple, just Jason, a barstool, and his guitar with a spotlight shining on him and his band. There’s not much else needed!
Jason delighted fans by dishing on the ACMs red carpet prior to the show that he’s working diligently on his new album. While he’s not close to finishing the new record, he’s chugging away at it, and should be releasing it sometime in 2018! You won’t have to wait that long for something good from Jason, though; he’s expecting a new single to drop sometime “soon”! Come on, Jason; you have to give us more details than that! At least he’ll start his tour in Toledo, Ohio on April 27th!
Jason talked inspiration for his music, which comes from real life experiences. You can feel that in his ACMs performance! He divulged a little more about that in an interview with CBS a few days before the awards show when talking about his hit “They Don’t Know”, the title track off his smash hit album from 2016. The song was apparently inspired by Jason’s feelings seeing how people from rural areas are portrayed in the media.
“Being where I’m from in Georgia, growing up on the outskirts of Macon, you have people that — for lack of a better term — come from ‘the big city,’ they have a tendency to sort of look down on things that they really don’t understand and don’t know,” he told CBS. “I think that happens a lot…And to me, the song says it perfectly, and I can relate to that just growing up in Georgia where I did.”
