This may be one of the best casts to ever compete on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ but do you know the celeb that everyone’s buzzing about? Here’s all the details you need about Heather Morris, the actress dancing with Maksim Chmerkovskiy!
Heather Morris has been dancing a long time.
Heather started dancing when she was 9, competing in jazz, contemporary, and tap. Her first public appearance was on season two of So You Think You Can Dance in 2006, but didn’t make the final 20. So, she kept dancing. At 19, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue it.
She joined Beyonce’s tour.
In 2007, Heather joined The Beyonce Experience world tour as a backup dancer, then headed on a promotional tour for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” This included performing with Bey at the American Music Awards, The Today show, and on Saturday Night Live. At the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, she performed backup for Beyonce and Tina Turner.
She worked on Glee to teach dance, at first.
When taking acting classes, she was asked choreographer Zach Woodlee, if she would teach choreography for the “Single Ladies” dance to the stars of Glee. They happened to also be looking for another cheerleader, so she was cast as Brittany. After delivering incredible one-liners, she slowly became more prominent on the show. She became a series regular in season two and was given her own episode, “Britney/Brittany,” where she made her singing debut covering “I’m a Slave 4 U” epically.
She’s happily married with kids!
Heather is currently married to Taylor Hubbell; the two actually were to the same high school in Arizona, but didn’t know each other until college. They married on May 16, 2015 and now have two boys — Elijah Beckwith and Owen Barlett.
She wasn’t originally partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
“I never knew who my partner was gonna be. They told me we have a great partner for you, but maybe you’d have to travel for a couple of weeks and I said, ‘I don’t know if I’m able to do that,’” Maks told HolywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY before the premiere. “So that’s when they said, ‘Ok we’ll give them to somebody else.’ And they gave me Heather.”
