Oh no! Angelina Jolie has reportedly found herself in a battle over ‘fake’ documentation in the adoption of Maddox. An aid worker in Cambodia claims to be the 15-year-old boy’s father and says he has power of attorney over Maddox. Get all the details here!
And here we thought Brad Pitt would be the only person Angelina Jolie would ever have to fight with over custody of her kids. But as it turns out, a new report claims that an aid worker in Cambodia says he’s Maddox‘s father and he still has power of attorney over the 15-year-old.
Mounh Sarath, 51, recently told The Sun, “I would be happy if Cambodia didn’t see [Angelina] again.” He reportedly showed the news outlet an alleged adoption document filed with a court in Cambodia in August 2003. The legal paper states the court considered him as the father, and Mounh said, “Maddox is still my son. [Angelina] never cleared this up.”
As you’ll recall, Angelina adopted Maddox when she was married to Billy Bob Thornton. Mounh, who met Angelina through charity work, claims she “had to change his name, so the only way was for me to do it. I said he’s my son.”
Mounh did not say whether he wants to become the physical guardian of Maddox.
Angelina, who recently split from Brad Pitt, has not yet commented on Mounh’s claims, but Maddox’s adoption agent, Lauryn Galindo, was previously sentenced to 18 months in prison after reportedly “falsifying names, birth dates and places of birth of Cambodian children she helped to place with American parents.” But at the time, Angelina insisted she didn’t break any law. “I prefer to stay on the right side of the law. I would never take a child away from a place where adoption is illegal,” she said.
