After an opening day stumble, Atlanta United seems to have found its footing. Will they claim the club’s second win when they face the Chicago Fire on March 18? There’s only one way to find out!
It’s time for the Windy City to head to the Dirty South. The Chicago Fire will ditch the cold shores of Lake Michigan for the warmer climates of Georgia to face Atlanta United on their home turf. However, the Fire shouldn’t expect a warm reception, as the Atlanta crowd has already proven its love for its red-and-black attack. This game is set for 4:00 PM ET so be sure you can see every second.
Atlanta came out the victor in the prior week’s battle of the MLS expansion teams, according to MLS Soccer. AU throttled Minnesota United, 6-1, proving that they’re the rookies to beware of during this MLS season. It was the club’s first ever victory and a resounding statement after they came close to beating the NY Red Bulls in their debut match.
Though, the rookies have quite a heavy path ahead of them. After this Chicago game, they have to face the reigning MLS cup champions, the Seattle Sounders, and the team they beat in the 2016 title match, Toronto FC. After that, they meet the Montreal Impact and Real Salt Lake.
Speaking of Real Salt Lake, Chicago is coming off a 2-0 victory over Utah’s favorite sports sons (Sorry, Utah Jazz). The Fire have found a new – pardon the pun – fire in their bellies since pairing Dax McCarty and Juninho. The midfielders have given Chicago the core strength they needed. With striker Nemanja Nikolic leading the attack, the Fire might be too much for the Georgian team to control. “Atlanta Is Burning,” indeed.
The best thing is that this game will be broadcast through Univision’s Facebook page. “The live streamed matches, which will be produced for consumption on mobile devices, will feature Facebook-specific commentators, interactive graphics, and fan Q&A and polling features allowing viewers to engage directly with commentators throughout matches,” MLS soccer said in a press release. That’s awesome!
Who do you want to win this game, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Atlanta or Chicago will raise the W on this match?
