Puerto Rico and Venezuela will be battling it out in game 6 of Pool F play in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. On the line will be a trip to Los Angeles to play in the semifinals at Dodgers Stadium. These two teams are tangling in the second round of the annual tournament founded in 2005 to give baseball fans a taste of action prior to Major League Baseball’s season beginning.
Puerto Rico crushed the competition in round 1, Pool D action in Jalisco, Mexico scoring 29 runs in only three games. They swept through Venezuela 11-0 in their first meeting in the tournament on Mar. 10th. If that game is any indicator of how this one might go down, the Venezuelan guys better brace for impact.
Both teams are stacked with MLB players which, if get hot, can seriously light-up the scoreboard. Guys like Carlos Gonzalez, 31, Yadier Molina, 34, and Carlos Beltran, 39, will all be on the field, wearing their nation’s colors, giving fans a big show. Pitching wins championships, as it did for the Chicago Cubs in the 2016 World Series, so look to the bullpens to play a critical role in this game.
