The video for Snoop Dogg’s song ‘Lavender’ is a direct response to what’s going on in the U.S. politically right now, and it even features a parody Donald Trump in the form as a clown named ‘Ronald Krump’ who gets shot. Do you think Snoop took it too far? Watch here and let us know!
WHAT is with all the clowns in Snoop Dogg’s new “Lavender” video?! The idea for the clip, which was directed by YouTube star Jesse Wellens, came about after Philando Castile was fatally shot last year, and is a response to police brutality and the unfair treatment of minorities, specifically under President Donald Trump.
“We just kind of wanted to bring the clowns out, because it’s clownery — it’s ridiculous what’s happening,” Jesse told Billboard. “As America, it just doesn’t seem like we’re very respected right now.” Snoop added, “The whole world is clownin’ around and [Jesse’s] concept is right on point with the art direction and the reality because if you really look at some of these motherf***ers, they are clowns.”
In his Billboard interview, the rapper specifically listed his problems with Trump — i.e. the travel ban, allowance of police brutality and more — and referred to his policies as “clown s***.” So, it only made sense that an actor dressed as Trump was also portrayed as a clown in the video — and he gets shot by Snoop with a fake gun in the end!
“I feel like it’s a lot of people making cool records, having fun, partying, but nobody’s dealing with the real issue with this f***ing clown as president,” he said. “And the shit that we dealing with out here, so I wanted to take time out to push pause on a party record and make onse of these records for the time being.” Check out the full video above!
