Did Emma Watson really take aim at Beyonce in an interview? The Beyhive is rushing to defend their queen, but Disney’s newest princess is setting the record straight once and for all.
Emma Watson, 26, refuses to be taken out of context. As word spread that she might have thrown shade at none other than Beyonce, 35, the Beauty and the Beast actress quickly jumped on social media to shed light on the situation. It turns out that Emma actually went into great detail about Beyonce’s 2013 visual album and how it affected her in more ways than one.
“The fact she wasn’t doing it for a label, she was doing it for herself and the control that she has directing it and putting it out there, I agree is making her sexuality empowering because it is her choice,” Emma said in the 2014 interview. “The second is that I would say you do get sense of, ‘I can be a feminist, I can be an intellectual, I can be all these other things, but I can also be ok with my femininity and being pretty and with all these things that I thought might negate my message or negate what I am about’.”
Emma went on to compliment Beyonce by saying that to her, that was the “most interesting thing about the album.” She loved that it was “so inclusive” and put “feminism and femininity and female empowerment on such a broad spectrum.” And guess what? We couldn’t agree more!
So, there you have it. Emma was not dissing Beyonce in any way, shape or form and, if anything, was praising her for her artistic vision and full-blown feminism. We can put this non-feud to rest now, thanks!
