The She Believes Cup just started and already, Germany’s back is against the wall. After losing to the USA, the Germans now look to rebound in their March 4 match against France. It’s going to be amazing so don’t miss a second!
If the Rio 2016 Olympic gold-winning Germany wants to walk away from the She Believes Cup with some silverware, they need to come back in a big way against France. After falling to the United States in the opening round, Die Nationalelf need a victory (and an American loss) to stay alive!
However, Le Bleues will not make it easy for their European neighbors when these two sides clash at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. The match is set for 2:15 PM ET so be sure to watch every moment.
France was headed to an L when they pulled off an amazing comeback victory against England. Jordan Nobbs, 24, drew first blood in the 32nd minute, according to US Soccer, nailing a right-footed goal that remained the only point until the 80th minute. Marie-Laure Delie, 29, came roaring through, nailing a diving header to equalize the score. It was Wendie Renard, 26, who ultimately won the game, scoring in extra time to give France the 2-1 victory.
For Germany, they were the first to experience a revamped USWNT. After failing to medal in the Rio 2016 games, the first time in 20 years since the US Women left the Olympics without any hardware, the team needed some tweaking.
Coach Jill Ellis, 50, employed a 3-5-2/3-4-1-2 formation, an experiment that could have turned into disaster. Christen Press, 28, set up Lynn William, 23, to score the only goal in the game, and the US walked away with a 1-0 victory over Germany.
However, Germany wasn’t really on their game, according to SB Nation. While they were able to give defenders Casey Short, 26, and Crystal Dunn, 24, a run for their money, the Germans couldn’t capitalize. Perhaps after a few days’ rest, they’ll be able to bring their A-game to this match with France?
Who do you want to win the SheBelieves Cup, HollywoodLifers? Do you think the Americans will repeat as champs?
