Only in the NHL can two players go from best bros to bitter enemies in a blink of an eye. Ryan Dzyingel first shared a laugh with his opponent, Reilly Smith, during a Feb. 26 game, but seconds later, the gloves were off and the fists were flying!
After seeing the fistfight between the Ottawa Senators’ Ryan Dzingel, 24, and the Florida Panthers’ Reilly Smith, 25, the main question is: what did these two say to each other? During the third period of the Panthers-Senators game on Feb. 26, the two seem to get into a scuffle during a face-off.
It looked like cooler heads would prevail on the ice, as both Ryan and Reilly laughed off their clash. As Ryan got back into position, Reilly kept on talking. After these two NHL players locked eyes, it was pretty much done after that. The two broke away, threw off the gloves and started to beat the living daylights out of each other!
It took these guys twelve seconds to go from laughing to throwing the first punch. It was the first fight for both these players, according to Fox Sports, so perhaps they both felt like they had to get it out of their system? Or maybe Reilly thought that Shawn Thornton, 39, shouldn’t be the only one getting into fights?
The Florida forward got into three separate bouts during this game, according to the Sun Sentinel. Two minutes into the game, Shawn got upset over how Mark Borowiecki, 27, slammed Colton Sceviour, 27, into the boards, which kicked off Shawn’s night of fighting. He clashed with Dion Phaneuf, 31, and ultimately, Shawn got sacked with 19 penalty minutes.
Both the Panthers and Senators were coming off losses “so everybody’s pretty angry,” said Florida’s interim coach Tom Rowe, 60. It seems anger didn’t help out the Panthers, as they fell 2-1 to the Senators in this match. Uh-oh. If the Florida squad was “angry” after one loss, they should be positively furious going into their Feb. 28 match with the Carolina Hurricanes. Nobody better tell any bad jokes – it might end up in a bloodbath!
What did you think these two said to cause them to fight, HollywoodLifers?
