And while Mel walked the red carpet at the Academy Awards on Feb. 26, the star and his girlfriend of two years, Rosalind Ross, 26, were the epitome of proud parents as they showed off their little one using Mel’s phone. During an on-camera red carpet interview with Channel 9, the actor revealed the very first photo of baby Lars, whom he and Rosalind welcomed only last month. And we have say, especially for just having a baby, Rosalind looked FLAWLESS in her ice-blue strapless ball gown! But it was her and Mel’s enthusiasm for their bundle of joy that really stuck with us.

“He’s great — he’s got a little tux on!” Rosalind gushed when asked how Lars, her first child and Mel’s ninth, is doing. “I’ve got to show you this picture. It’s killer,” added Mel, grabbing his cell phone and pulling up an adorable snapshot of his son wearing a miniature tuxedo. “This cracks me up. Lars is wearing a tux!” How cute is THAT? We love how he was matching his famous father on his big night.
The couple got all dressed up and left their son with a sitter in order to support Mel’s film Hacksaw Ridge. The movie, which starred Andrew Garfield and Vince Vaughn, was nominated for six Academy Awards — including Best Picture and Best Director for Mel. It ended up taking home two Oscars, one for best film editing and one for best sound mixing. But win or lose, Mel got to go home to his cutest — and littlest — fan at the end of the night! And we think that’s just priceless.
