The queen of Hollywood has arrived — and she looks drop-dead beautiful! Meryl Streep wowed on the Academy Awards red carpet in a stunning blue dress, and she was completely glowing from head-to-toe. We’re SO obsessed with her elegant old Hollywood style! Tell us, HollywoodLifers — are you loving Meryl’s look as much as we are?
Meryl Streep, 67, commanded attention at the 2017 Oscars on Feb. 26 in the BEST way possible when she stepped onto the red carpet dazzling in a blue off-the-shoulder gown wore over trousers! The star, who’s up for the Best Actress award, stunned in a satin Elie Saab design that featured long sleeves, an off-the-shoulder collar, and embroidered delicate beading. The outfit was custom-made as it fit Meryl’s figure perfectly, and it was in a midnight blue hue. TALK about gorgeous!
The coolest part of Meryl’s look though was that her gown was worn over a fitted pair of matching trousers, which made her outfit completely unique — there’s no question the Academy-Award winner knows how to make a statement. Meryl’s ensemble was worn with a belt, and we just love how it literally looked like was wearing a starry night sky due to her embroidered sparkles. Meryl completed her look carrying the “Vanina” satin box clutch from Charlotte Olympia.
But it wasn’t just Meryl’s dress that glittered. As for her gorgeous jewelry, the star wore Fred Leighton. Sporting rose-cut diamond pendant earring — silver on gold — Meryl’s face was beautifully highlighted by the designer’s pieces. She also rocked a 19th Century rose-cut diamond ring in gold and a rose-cut diamond cluster ring. SO amazing!
Meryl totally broke out all the style stops for her big night — after all, the actress is nominated tonight for her 20th Oscar so we don’t blame her for going all out. And while the icon did not wear Karl Lagerfeld, much to his dismay, she still looked better than ever! For those who need a refresher, Karl, who’s the creative director of Chanel, told Women’s Wear Daily earlier this week that after requesting a dress from his label, Meryl backed out when she heard another label was willing to pay her for wearing one of their designs on the red carpet. Yikes!
However, a representative for Meryl quickly disputed Karl’s claims to The Hollywood Reporter, saying that it is against the actress’ ethics to take payment for wearing a designer’s gown. Eek, talk about a grave misunderstanding! Either way though, Meryl looks absolutely fantastic and we wish her all the best tonight!
