Ginnifer Goodwin had to do an extremely difficult thing today, Feb. 26: attend the Academy Awards just hours after learning about her ‘Big Love’ costar Bill Paxton’s death. Here are the sweet words that Ginny had to say about the actor on the red carpet during the biggest night in Hollywood.
“It was hard to come here, it felt wrong to come and celebrate anything,” Ginnifer Goodwin, 38, told PEOPLE at the Academy Awards on the red carpet about learning of Bill Paxton‘s death earlier in the day. “But [my husband] Josh [Dallas, 38] reminded me that Bill loved all things Hollywood history and he would want you to be here.” So heartbreaking, and we can imagine just how hard of a decision it was for the Once Upon a Time actress.
Ginnifer “also shared that the second place [Bill] would probably want to be (aside from hanging out with his family) would be at the Oscars”, according to the site. Aww. Well, we’re so glad that she decided to attend, and she looked like a real-life princess in her red lace gown with sheer paneling. Perfection!
Ginnifer and Bill — who tragically passed away on Feb. 25 at the age of 61 from complications of surgery — starred in the HBO television series Big Love together for six years. On the show, Bill portrayed the patriarch of a polygamist family named Bill Henrickson, and Ginny played Margene Heffman, the youngest of the three wives. Our hearts go out to Bill’s loved ones during this difficult time.
