Oh no! Natalie Portman is bailing out of the Oscar weekend festivities due to her pregnancy and we’ve got the details here!
This is sad news! Natalie Portman, 35, won’t be attending the Independent Spirit Awards on Feb. 25 or the Academy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 26. The actress is expecting her second child with her husband Benjamin Millepied, 39. “Due to my pregnancy, I am unable to attend the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards,” she announced in a statement from Hollywood Reporter. Ever the class act though, Natalie wished everyone attending a lovely weekend. “I feel so lucky to be honored among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends.”
We hope everything is okay with Natalie and she just need some extra rest. The actress has been busy on the awards circuit leading up to the Oscars as she was nominated in the Best Actress category for Jackie. Natalie’s role as First Lady Jackie Kennedy following her husband’s death was nothing short of incredible. She’s been widely praised for her performance. In the meantime, Natalie’s looked radiant on the red carpets this season and even channeled Jackie O for her Golden Globes outfit. Jackie also scored Oscar nominations for Best Original Music Score and Best Costume Design, both of which were standouts in the period film.
Oscar Sunday is sure to be a big night for those that do attend. Even though Natalie won’t be there, she’ll be up against some stiff competition for Best Actress. Her fellow nominees include Meryl Streep for Florence Foster Jenkins, Ruth Negga for Loving, Isabell Huppert for Elle, and Emma Stone for La La Land, who’s expected by many to win.
