Uh oh, Daryl’s in big trouble! In this preview of ‘The Walking Dead’s upcoming episode, we go back in time to see the moment that Dwight and the Saviors find Fay Joey’s body after Daryl’s great escape.
Who let Daryl (Norman Reedus) out of his cage? Hopefully we’re about to find out during the February 26 episode of The Walking Dead, in which Dwight (Austin Amelio) is the one who finds his room empty. to realize that something is not right inside the Sanctuary. As you can see in the preview above, Dwight puts two-and-two together much quicker than anyone would have expected!
The scene opens on Fat Joey’s (Joshua Hoover) half-eaten sandwich, then pans up to show the top half of his body laying face down on the pavement. Around his head is a pool of blood, which we already know was caused by Daryl losing his you-know-what on the Savior before making a run for it with Jesus (Tom Payne). As the camera continues to pan up we see more and more Saviors coming to see the body. A moment later Dwight bursts into the wall of Saviors to see for himself, then notices that there is a motorcycle missing from just a few feet away.
As this moment is unfolding the Saviors staring at Fat Joey’s body can hear the roar of trucks returning to the Sanctuary, which means their leader, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), has returned. Terrible timing, huh? We see a brief glimpse of Negan riding high in the passenger seat before we cut back to Dwight who makes a run for it inside one of the nearby buildings. The music builds with each step that Dwight takes and when he rips open the door of the prison cell where Daryl should be he stares in disbelief at the empty space. Eek!
