Are you completely destroyed after watching the Feb. 21 episode of ‘This Is Us’? Same. Creator Dan Fogelman revealed the sweetest letter he wrote for the cast and crew after the episode aired. Read it and weep.
The Feb. 21 episode of This Is Us put everyone through the wringer. One of the show’s most beloved characters, William, passed away with Randall by his side. It’s never easy to say goodbye to anyone, even a character on a TV show. Dan Fogelman knows that and wrote this letter:
“It’s never easy writing the death scene of one of your favorite characters (and actors). I hope we’ve done you proud — you certainly always deliver for us. And if anyone is extra sad about this ending, I’d urge you to remember the worlds of a wise young actor named Justin Hartley who once said: ‘People will die in our lives, people that we love. But it’s kind of beautiful if you think about it, the fact that just because someone died, it doesn’t mean they’re not still in the painting.'”
#ThisIsUs SPOILER ALERT!

Is there anyone else who’s crying AGAIN? Fans have fallen in love with the This Is Us characters in just one season. It’s hard to believe there was a time This Is Us wasn’t in our lives.
Every week, This Is Us takes us on an emotional roller coaster. While we knew William’s death was inevitable, it still hurts to say goodbye so soon. But William isn’t the only character no longer with us in the present day. Jack passed away when the Pearson kids were teenagers. We don’t know exactly when or how, but it was devastating for the entire family. Expect another note like this one whenever we learn how Jack died.
This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
HollywoodLifers, are you sad that William is gone? Let us know!
