The Kardashian sisters have filed to block Blac Chyna from cashing in on their name if she ever marries into the family, and HollywoodLife.com has obtained the official documents. Click in to see them, and a lawyer breaks it all down for us right here!
Click through the gallery, attached, to see the photographic proof that Kim Kardashian, 35, and her sisters are not here for Blac Chyna‘s eagerness to profit from the family name if she marries Rob Kardashian, 29!
“Blac Chyna has recently filed a trademark (not copyright) for the name ANGELA RENEE KARDASHIAN, which she intends to use for advertising/self promotion and as a ‘professional entertainer’,” Copyright and Trademark expert lawyer Michael Cohen explains to Hollywoodlife.com exclusively. Seems innocent enough, right?
Well, not so fast. While United States Patent and Trademark Office did not have an issue with Chyna’s trademark application, Kim and the Kardashians’ various business enterprises (Khlomoney Inc., 2Die4Kourt, and Kimsaprincess Inc) did. In response, Kim, Kourtney Kardashian, 37, and Khloe Kardashian, 32, have filed an “opposition to prevent Blac Chyna from getting the name” and exploiting it. You can see the docs below!
As the opposition states, “[Blac Chyna] is deliberately seeking to profit from the goodwill and popularity of Opposers’ KARDASHIAN Marks.” This means that Kim & Co. think Chyna will try to use the Kardashian name for profit. Now that they’ve done this, if the sisters win and Chyna, 28, does marry Rob, she can legally take his name — but can’t use it for business.
“The Kardashian clan essentially does not want her to utilize the Kardashian name in connection with any similar business endeavor that they are involved because they feel it will cause confusion and dilution of the Kardashian name,” Cohen tells us. Of course, we’ll keep you posted as this all plays out!
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked that Kim and her sisters are fighting Chyna’s request to trademark her name?
