Simon Cowell’s 2-year-old son Eric may be the picture of health, but that hasn’t stopped the music mogul from fearing the worst. And just like any other loving parent, Simon recently admitted that his greatest worry in life is that he’ll outlive his own child! Read his emotional words on fatherhood here and find out how he’s generously helping families in need.
Despite his massive success, when it comes down to it, Simon Cowell, 57, is just like any other caring parent! And since the birth of his son Eric, 2, in February 2014, the music producer has consistently worried about one thing — the health and wellbeing of his son! In fact, in a recent interview with the Mirror, published on Dec. 4, Simon admitted that his greatest fear is losing his only child for good.
“Knowing you will outlive your own child is everyone’s worst nightmare and I am more aware than ever that it can happen to anyone,” Simon told the publication during his heartfelt interview. “Now that I am a father I understand on a much deeper level how devastating it would be to hear the news that your child was unwell.” To try and help families in need, the father-of-one, who welcomed Eric with his partner Lauren Silverman, 39, announced half of the earnings from The X Factor winner’s single this year will be donated to charity.
“I’ve met some very young kids who have all sorts of very different conditions,” Simon explained. “It’s the spirit and bravery of them all though — the kids and the families — that really shines through and inspires me.” One of the charities that will benefit from Simon’s generous gesture is Together For Short Lives, which is a leading UK charity for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.
Simon is a patron for the charity and has been supporting its efforts for seven years! He revealed that she’s truly blown away by the charity’s work. Even better, Simon’s heartfelt interview comes right on the heels of the U.K. government waiving VAT on the X Factor winner’s single! Now all of the single’s proceeds will be pledged to charities caring for sick children. How amazing is THAT?
The single will be released after next weekend’s X Factor finale, which will see either Saara Aalto, Matt Terry, or 5 After Midnight releasing the tune.
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — do you think fatherhood has made Simon a better person? Isn’t his precious son adorable?
