Reality TV stars Mendeecees Harris and Yandy Smith-Harris are in fact not married, according to MediaTakeOut.com. Now, that may be really shocking news to those viewers who tuned in to watch their nuptials live on VH1’s hit reality TV series Love & Hip Hop. But according to MTO, the lavish “wedding” they had was not a legally binding union. Sorry, Mendeecees and Yandy fans!
Sources close to the show’s production team told MTO that the LHH relationship itself was not fake. But that the marriage was faked. Some think it’s because Yandy did not want her assets to be joined with his, on the off chance that any women who came looking for child support while Mendeecees was in prison would not be getting any of her money. But another theory is that Yandy didn’t particularly feel crazy about the idea of marrying a man who was going to prison for a long time. So, if Yandy was pressured into getting married on the show, that’s how they had to do it.

If it’s really true that Mendeecees and Yandy didn’t tie the knot, we feel pretty bad that they were forced to fake it on live TV for whatever reason. A wedding is a serious thing, whether you’re starring on a reality TV show or not. We just hope that the two are happy with whatever the status of their relationship is at this point.
