You go girl! Khloe Kardashian is spilling about how much she loathed being known as ‘plus sized’ and wants to do away with that label altogether. Keep reading on how she’s using her Good American denim line to empower curvy women to feel good about shopping.
Khloe Kardashian, 32, may have lost a ton of weight and is in the best shape of her life, but she still relates to women who are naturally curvy. She looks back on the days when she couldn’t shop in regular clothing sections because of her size and despises that time. “I’m all for women’s empowerment and I used to be someone they used to label plus size. F*** that. I don’t want to be called that. I’m a woman with curves,” Khloe defiantly told the audience at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Next Gen conference in Laguna Niguel, CA Nov. 29.
She remembers when she was heavier and would try to go shopping with her tinier sisters Kourntey, 37, and Kim, 36, growing up. Even as an adult, they could shop freely while Khloe would have to ask clerks to if they even carried her size 31 pant. “It would always make me feel super embarrassed to go shopping with my sisters who are petite and they could go shopping and in any department store and it was just hard for me. I remember the chubby girl in me and I’m fighting for my chubby self,” she explained “I felt so shamed when I would go into boutiques or go denim shopping. It was super hard for me,” she confessed to the crowd.
Now that Khloe has launched her new denim line Good American, she’s making sure all women are covered when they go shopping at her stores as her jeans range from size zero to 24, meaning everyone can shop in the same place and not feel singled out by being more curvy. “It was about doing something that empowers other women,” she said about her latest business venture. We love Khloe’s message and are so proud of her for helping women feel better about themselves.
