We’re finally getting some answers as to how former New York Jets player Joe McKnight, 28, ended up dead on Dec. 1. A suspect has been named in his murder following an alleged road rage incident. Sheriff Newell Normand tells HollywoodLife.com that “the suspect in this investigation is named as Ronald Gasser.” He is a 54-year-old white man who “remained at the scene and was taken into custody.”
As of right now, Ronald is being held and interrogated by the homicide detectives in Terrytown, LA, a suburb of New Orleans. Gunfire was reported to the police at 2:45 local time “of a subject shot near the intersection of Holmes Boulevard and Behrman Highway in Terrytown.” After getting into an argument allegedly following road rage, Joe was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. “Our officers began CPR as they awaited the arrival of EMS, soon thereafter, Mr Joe McKnight, was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Sheriff Normand.
Ran a criminal records check on Ronald Gasser. No criminal history in JP or Orleans. #joemcknight

The suspect was allegedly seen standing over Joe’s lifeless body saying “I told you not to f*ck with me,” moments after the murder. A New Orleans criminal defense lawyer ran a background check on Ronald, and found that he’s actually never been in trouble before. It is unclear why he would suddenly shoot and kill someone, especially since onlookers claim Joe had been trying to apologize to him for something. We hope this gets straightened out quickly so Joe’s family can have some peace.
